On Tuesday October 11, 2011 Leanne (Chin) was diagnosed with breast cancer. This blog will follow her journey. It will share the peaks and valleys along the way. But it will also serve as a way to communicate prayer requests and praises. Join us as we partner with Chin and fight along side her for she "...can do all things through Christ who strengthens her." Phil. 4:13

When leaving a comment, please sign your name so we know you were here. Thanks!
The meaning behind Chin ... There is a Chinese restaurant in the Twin Cities named Leann Chin. While Leanne was attending a basketball camp in middle school, a fellow camper had a bag from the restaurant. This camper made the connection between the name of the restaurant and Leanne's name. And the nickname Chin stuck!

Update

Leanne had kind of a rough night last night and was put on a steady dose of morphine to help calm her down and keep her comfortable. Ryan was able to spend the night with her and had some good time with her.

Please keep us in your prayers. We need prayer for:

  • Comfort and peace for Leanne
  • God to take His precious child home when He sees fit
  • Comfort and strength for Ryan
  • Peace for Leo
  • Comfort for the White and Miller family
Not going to lie, this has been an extremely exhausting few days. But we are confident of this,

"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Leanne loved God passionately and lived to do His will. God WILL work good in this trial. He will bring beauty out of the pain and suffering the last 2 1/2 years have held. He will bring life to those who hear of the good news of salvation for the first time through Leanne's story. He will bring joy to our hearts through this pain. We are believing God to do BIG things through this. It will not be easy, but we are praying for God to show us glimpses of how He is working good. Nothing at the present moment makes sense, but to God it is all working out just as He sees fit. God wins. Every Single Time! Praying you all see the victory of Jesus in your life today.

As I cried out to God your behalf He very clearly lead me to 2 Corinthians today. I was once again blown away by all the Lord had to say. I pray it may it bring you some peace and comfort in a time that is beyond comprehension, beyond any words I have...

"We know that the same God who raised our Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself along with you. All of these things are for your benefit. And as God's grace brings more and more people to Christ [through Leanne's story!], there will be great thanksgiving and God will receive more and more glory. That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day... Yet they [our troubles] produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever. For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down--when we die and leave these bodies--we will have a home in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long for the day when we will put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will not be like spirits without bodies, but we will put on new heavenly bodies. Our dying bodies make us groan and sigh... We want to slip into our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by everlasting life. God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit. So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. That is why we live by believing and not by seeing. Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. So our aim is to please him always, whether we are here in this body or away from this body." 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:10

Our love and prayers are with all of you, always.

Chris, Fran and Families,

I am so saddened to hear of this turn of events. Please know that we will continue to pray for Leanne and your families.

I wanted to share one passing incident for Leanne that had a huge impact on us.

A couple of weeks ago we were at Abbott Northwestern with our daughter Abby, who had a ruptured appendix and emergency colon surgery. Abby developed a serious infection that required her to have a CT scan on a weekend evening. As they were rolling Abby down the hall to the CT scanner, we bumped into Chris and Leanne who were out for a short walk in the hallway.

We were surprised to see them, and quickly explained Abby's situation. Leanne looked at us and said she would be praying for Abby. We had to run to catch up to the gurney and didn't get to speak again.

We were so touched that Leanne would take time from her serious health battle to pray for Abby (against whom she played basketball back in the day!). That she would do that for us speaks so clearly about her character and the love of Christ in her, and we wanted you to know how blessed we were to be one of those "good works that God has prepared in advance for [Leanne] to do." (Eph. 2:10). We cannot thank her enough for that moment. Please pass our thanks on to her and her family as you are able.

We will continue to pray. God bless you and be close to you during this time.

I only learned of Leanne's courageous battle with cancer last week when she friended me on Facebook (we went to EPHS together). I read through her journey through the Team Chin blog and was (and still am) deeply touched by her courage, fight, but mostly her profound faith in God and His plan for her!!! I did not get a chance to share these words with her prior to her current situation, but I would like to share them with her family and friends who have been spending the time and energy to keep the blog ongoing and share Leanne's amazing journey with others all over the country. I know it cannot be easy... THANK YOU!

I continue to pray for Leanne, for you, her family and friends, and continued faith during this difficult journey and also that Leanne and those close to her will find peace and comfort through this. Continued prayers, love, and faith are being sent your way.
