On Tuesday October 11, 2011 Leanne (Chin) was diagnosed with breast cancer. This blog will follow her journey. It will share the peaks and valleys along the way. But it will also serve as a way to communicate prayer requests and praises. Join us as we partner with Chin and fight along side her for she "...can do all things through Christ who strengthens her." Phil. 4:13

The meaning behind Chin ... There is a Chinese restaurant in the Twin Cities named Leann Chin. While Leanne was attending a basketball camp in middle school, a fellow camper had a bag from the restaurant. This camper made the connection between the name of the restaurant and Leanne's name. And the nickname Chin stuck!

What we know ...

Leanne had her PET scan yesterday and it showed more cancer.

We know there are a few lymph nodes in her chest that are cancerous.

We know there is a spot on her tailbone that is cancerous.

We know that God chose to allow this to happen and it was in His plan from before time began.

We know that God walked alongside Leanne, Ryan, and their families every single step of her journey this far and that He will be faithful to do it again.

We know Leanne has started a new, stronger chemo drug that she takes in pill form.

We know that starting on March 20th Leanne will have chemo weekly for 90 days.

We know Leanne will also meet with her Oncologist, Dr. Bloom, on March 20th to figure out what this journey will look like and to, hopefully, get some answers to her questions.

There is still a lot we don't know. But we are going to focus on the known for now. We are going to cling to God's promise of peace (Philippians 4:6-7). We are going to cling to God's promise to work good in this (Romans 8:28). We are going to cling to the fact that God is close to us now (Psalm 34:18).

Please partner with us in prayer again.  Pray for:
  • Leanne, Ryan, and Leo to safely travel this week and arrive on time regardless of the weather
  • Peace for Leanne
  • Good sleep for Leanne
  • Wisdom for Dr. Bloom and his team as they decide how to treat the cancer this time
  • Peace and trust for Leanne and Ryan's families
  • God to faithfully provide what Leanne, Ryan, and Leo need when they need it
We cannot do this without you. God was so good to provide faithful teammates last time around and we know He will do it again. We love each of you!

Hi Leanne, this is Katie's friend Rachel from Muscatine. You know we are all with you in spirit and prayer here...and in truth! Hope you have a great "huddle" this week to help prepare for the fight. Check out the last few verses in Habbakuk sometime - something Katie and I have talked about recently.

Leann, We met at Thirsty Hearts last spring, and Mary E just emailed prayers for you. Reading your blog Jesus shines through you all so beautifully. Your every step so beautifully reflects WHO you belong to and who you are because of Him. I'm fervently praying you feel His mercies new today just for you, that you can rest knowing God is passionately and constantly at work for you (ps 121- He does not grow weary, and it's okay if you do), and that you see the goodness of The Lord in abundance in these days. I'm so sorry for this road for you. And it is beautiful to see you walking this out in His strength. All things through Christ. God bless you and your lovely family. Leo is just adorable.
My prayers,
Sara Silburn

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed.' says the Lord, who has compassion on you." Isaiah 54:10

I am so sorry. Ugh, my heart aches. I am beyond grateful that God's ways are higher than ours because in times such as this, I have my questions. His ways are always right, so in that there is rest. Can't imagine Team Chin!! Oh' I will be lifting you all up!
In Him, Barbi Odom ( Mary's friend)

Dear Miller-3 Team,
The Askerooth team is building steam to pray for answers to the latest scene. Plans are to open dialog with the MAN, and deliver Leanne to a cure with his hand.
